BridgeWays releasing new and updated MPs for VMware, Databases, Application Servers and BES

Some great news on the BridgeWays MP front, we have quite a few new and updated MPs that have been released, or will be released over the next month. 

The latest batch of MPs that have been released are:

VMware ESX, we've released version 1.1 that includes:

•  filtering support allowing the MP to scale over large environments by using multiple collectors connected to the same vCenter. 
• vSphere support
• Additional metrics around the resource pools
• Some really good optimizations in terms of a very smooth out of the box experience (you can easily scale up the MP)
• Improved our model to reduce the hit discoveries have on the operations manager database

JBoss, we've release version 1.1 that adds some nice functionality to the original MP such as:

• Connection port based metrics around Request rates and Error rates
• Multiple instance support
• Native OpsMgr RunAs account support for authentication

Apache Tomcat, we've released version 1.0 and it includes:

• Fully native, JMX Mp designed to pull data from the MBeans exposed from Tomcat
• CPU, Memory, JVM usage, Servlet metrics, and more
• Database Connection pools
• Authentication support

Stay tuned for more as we look to release JEE JMX Template, IBM DB2, Oracle ASM and BES in the coming weeks as well as roll out betas for Oracle WebLogic and IBM WebSphere.

TechEd Europe 2009

Currently at TechEd Europe, it's quite the show this year. It sold out so there are 6800 people wandering around Berlin carrying TechEd bags :)

I'm only here as an exhibitor this year, so I am not seeing much in terms of the new announcements but I'm very impressed with the sheer volume of people coming through the expo areas and taking a look at the various system center partners.  

If you haven't checked out Savision Live Maps in a while, make sure you do so, they recently added some cool new functionality, I really like a new Windows Gadget that let's you see how many alerts exist against a group. It's very slick, bring up the windows sidebar, add the gadget and away you go.

At the BridgeWays pod we've been having a lot of interest around JEE, VMware and Oracle monitoring, the nice part is that the majority of people are looking at monitoring the application on UNIX/Linux showing that R2 is making some good inroads into monitoring those platforms.  People are starting to see (and believe) that OpsMgr does a solid job of monitoring the whole environment, not just the Windows servers.
